Discrete Spectrum of Quantum Tubes

چکیده
A quantum tube is essentially a tubular neighborhood about an immersed complete manifold in some Euclidean space. To be more precise, let Σ →֒ R, k ≥ 1, n = dim(Σ), be an isometric immersion, where Σ is a complete, noncompact, orientable manifold. Then consider the resulting normal bundle TΣ over Σ, and the submanifold F = {(x, ξ)|x ∈ Σ, |ξ < r} ⊂ TΣ for r small enough. The quantum tube is defined as the Riemannian manifold (F, f (dsE)), where dsE is the Euclidean metric in R n+k and the map f is defined by f(x, ξ) = x + ξ. If k = 1, then the quantum tube is also called the quantum layer. The immersion of Σ means that the resulting image of F under f in R can have intersections. Moreover, since Σ can have quite complicated topology in general, f(F ) can too. However, by doing our analysis on F directly (with the pull-back metric), these complications are naturally bypassed (cf. [1, 5]).

On the Discrete Spectrum of Generalized Quantum Tubes
The spectrum (of the Dirichlet Laplacian) of non-compact, non-complete Riemannian manifolds is much less understood than their compact counterparts. In particular it is often not even known whether such a manifold has any discrete spectra. In this article, we will prove that a certain type of non-compact, non-complete manifold called the quantum tube has non-empty discrete spectrum. The quantum...
متن کاملStability of additive functional equation on discrete quantum semigroups
We construct a noncommutative analog of additive functional equations on discrete quantum semigroups and show that this noncommutative functional equation has Hyers-Ulam stability on amenable discrete quantum semigroups. The discrete quantum semigroups that we consider in this paper are in the sense of van Daele, and the amenability is in the sense of Bèdos-Murphy-Tuset. Our main result genera...

For periodically driven systems, quantum tunnelling between classical resonant stability islands in phase space separated by invariant KAM curves or chaotic regions manifests itself by oscillatory motion of wavepackets centred on such an island, by mulitplet splittings of the quasienergy spectrum, and by phase space localization of the quasienergy states on symmetryrelated flux tubes. متن کاملEffect of asymmetric quantum dot rings in electron transport through a quantum wire
The electronic conductance at zero temperature through a quantum wire with side-connected asymmetric quantum ring (as a scatter system) is theoretically studied using the non-interacting Hamiltonian Anderson tunneling method. In this paper we concentrate on the configuration of the quantum dot rings. We show that the asymmetric structure of QD-scatter system strongly influences the amplitude an...
